Donald F. Engel ended his cou¬rageous battle with cancer in the early morning hours of August 11th, 2014 with his immediate family at his side at Cambridge Memorial Hospital in his 81st year.
Loving father of Susan McDon¬ald (John) and Nancy Davis (Ron), Poppa to Cindy Davis, Julie Elliott (Chris) and Aaron Hacking (Jen¬nifer), Joseph McDonald, Kristen Yedlinski (Jason). Grand-Poppa to Trey, Skylar, Jordan, Payton, Alexis, Brittany, Chad, Aidan and Sophia.
Predeceased by his wife Dorothy (2000), father Frederick Engel, mother Lucina Dallner, step-father Roy Dallner, brothers Paul Engel and Dennis Dallner, survived by his brother Glen Engel (Shirley).
Don farmed in his early years in the township of North Dumfries. He was one of the largest early in¬dustrial developers in the area. The 401/97 industrial subdivision is the result of his vision and initiative.
The family wishes to thank the nurses of Cambridge Memorial Hospital for his wonderful care as well as Dr. Vlaar and staff and Patrick MacNeil, pharmacist.
Friends may call at the Ayr Chapel, Wm. Kipp Funeral Home 183 Northumberland St. Ayr , on Wednesday, August 13th, 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Thursday, August 14th at 2 p.m. with Rev. Stephen Weber from St. Paul's Lutheran Church presiding. Interment Ayr Cemetery.
Reception to follow at Christ Anglican Church, Ayr.
