Ike Bergsma Van Manen

Ike (nee Bergsma) van Manen passed away on Sept. 12, 2016 after a short and brave struggle with cancer. Ike maintained her cheerful ways, sense of humour, sunny outlook and demeanour to the very end.
Ike was born in Nijkerkerveen, The Netherlands on May 6, 1932. She emigrated to Canada in 1959, met and married Henk van Manen in 1960. Predeceased by husband Henk in 1998.
Ike is survived by son Anthony (Xiao Hong Yang), grandsons Christopher and Yang Yu (Paul). Also by daughter Jildou (JD) Keith, grandchildren Mackenzie, Marlee and Lydia (Ean).
Ike was predeceased by parents Anders and Hilde Bergsma, sisters Wijp, Anke and Nell. She is survived by elder sister Hilde in The Netherlands, brother Anders (Florence) in B.C., her siblings in The Netherlands; Greet (Henk), Onno (Loeky) Guus (Jens). There are also numerous nieces and nephews, in Canada and The Netherlands.
We would like to thank those that cared for our mother in her final days to ensure she was resting comfortably. The nurses, Rebecca, Agnes and Cindy; the PSW’s Karen, Claudia, Lynn, Cody and the rest and finally to Dr. Cary, her family doctor and Dr. Haan.
Friends may call at the Ayr Chapel, Wm. Kipp Funeral Home, 183 Northumberland St., Ayr, on Friday, September 16th from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 17th at 11 a.m. at Calvary Church. Interment in Ayr Cemetery.
