Obituary for Alfred Russell Chessum

Chessum, Alfred “Russell”
A. Russell Chessum passed away quietly in his home on Saturday, September 17, 2016 in his 99th year. Alfred Russell Chessum, born in Toronto, June 8, 1917.
Beloved husband of the late Sheila Jean Chessum. {June 22, 98}. Loving father of Russell Raymond Chessum of Paris, ON, Norma Jean Frail of Clementsport, NS, Gregory B. Chessum of Ajax, ON; Loved uncle of Donna Craven of Marmora, ON, and all of her family.
Grandfather of seven.
Russ served in the RCAF from June 1940 to June 1964. He was stationed in seven of the provinces and overseas. After his Air Force career, he worked his way up through the ranks at the Servicesman’s Automobile Club in Malton, ON. He retired as president in 1983. Russ and Sheila moved back to Paris in 1989, where they were active members of the Paris Lawn Bowling Club.
He was a long time member of Canadian legions, his last being Paris Branch #29.
Russ was also a long time member of the Masonic Order, more recently the St. Johns Lodge No.82 in Paris.
His full time retirement allowed him to do more fishing and develop his taxidermy skills, playing his piano along with the Big Band era orchestra music which he loved, with great memories of the Air Force bands and night club gigs in which he played.
His sense of humour will be well remembered by those in his many social circles through out his life
Friends may call at the Wm. Kipp Funeral Home, 184 Grand River St. N. Paris on Tuesday September 20, 2016 from 7-9 PM. Funeral Services will be held in the Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday at 11:00 AM. Interment Paris Cemetery. A Masonic Memorial Service under the auspice of St. John’s Lodge No. 82 will be held at the Funeral Home on Tuesiday, September 20 at 6:30 p.m.
