Obituary for Terry Dunseith

Dunseith, Rev. Terry

At Juravinski Hospital in Hamilton, on Tuesday, November 8th, 2016, an Ordained United Church Minister who served in the Hamilton Conference, died suddenly in his 57th year.

Terry was born on January 21st, 1960 in Guelph, Ontario. He was active in the Scouting community, where he met his future wife Diane. While supporting his young family with factory work, he completed a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Guelph, and continued on to Emmanuel College where he obtained his Masters in Divinity, completing his calling to the ministry in the United Church of Canada. During his time in the church, he served the congregations at Grace United in Roseville, Trinity United in Hannon, Nanticoke Pastoral Charge, Burford United, Calvary United in Kitchener, Three Willows in Guelph, St. Luke’s in Cambridge, and Knox United in Ayr.

Terry remained young at heart through his love of music, movies, theatre, and literature. He had an irreverent sense of humour that was influenced by artists like Mel Brooks, Red Skelton, Monty Python, and Jim Henson. He loved to sing, shaped by his love of musicians such as Elton John, John Denver, The Beatles, Billy Joel, and more recent performers like Mumford and Sons, Pentatonix, Barenaked Ladies and Great Big Sea. He always loved musical theatre, playing Andrew Lloyd Webber and Les Miserables for his children. He exhibited a fondness for collecting artwork of rainbows and Noah’s Ark, and had recently kindled a passion for creating pieces of stained glass.

Beloved husband to Diane; loved dad to Jonathan, Jessica Little (Chris), and the late Matthew (2009); cherished “Granny’s Grandpa” to Lincoln and Max. Terry will be sadly missed by sisters Linda (Murray), Barb, and Kathy; brother Robert (Lynn); in-laws Joann (George), David (Lisa), Lani, Kathryn (Dave), and Terri (Craig); and a great many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents Don & Hilda and brother George.

Friends will be received at the Ayr Chapel, Wm. Kipp Funeral Home, 183 Northumberland St. Ayr on Friday 2-4 & 7-9 PM. A Memorial Service to Celebrate Terry’s life will be held at Trinity United Church, 400 Stevenson St N. Guelph on Saturday at 2:00 PM.

In Lieu of flowers, donations to the March of Dimes or United Church Mission & Service Fund would be appreciated.
