Condolence: To Linda and Family:
So sorry to hear of Walter's passing. Allan would reminisce many times about working with Walter at Northern Telephone and different hockey events they were at where Walter was Coaching or was Managing the team. Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this time.🙏

Condolence: Hello Linda and family so sorry to hear of Walters passing. I have many fond memories of Walter both as a Northern Telephone worker and his humour and friendship as our Standard Tavern old timers hockey team manager. I thought of Walter often

Condolence From: Richard Dorling
Condolence: All of us in the Dorling family offer our condolences to Karin, Alec, Linda, Heidi and Steven and their families.

My favourite memory of Walter took place in his back room on Walnut Street in Paris.

Walter shared with me his journey from Germany to the north of Ontario where he settled for work and the various jobs he took on.

I laughed at his story of the Micks and the Irish fist fighting over spilled beer on the boat from Germany to Canada.

Walter,
the ships have come to carry you home...

Condolence From: Bob McNichol
Condolence: I have know Walter for well over 50 years now and looking back there were some really fine moments we shared. Our honeymoon to Expo 67 and having more than a few beers in the German Pavilion and laughs for many days. We went fishing one time on a river where he said put your bait right into that spot and bang out came a pickerel ! Steam baths at Star Lake and holidays at our farm house in the heat of an Ontario summer. Lots of good times in the early years. He loved sports if I recall as he showed up as a couch one year in Ottawa with a hockey team and lots laughs and good times again.
His job was interesting as well as he introduced Northern bell to the computer age and was an excellent technician if memory serves me well. His ability to find wild mushrooms was a feat in itself with all the secret places he knew of.
Betty and I enjoyed watching his family grow into the fine people they are today with such lovely families of their own . Well done Hedi , Steven and Karin with an I.
Even with their move to the big city of Perth we visited many times and played a rousing game of golf in the back 40. Unfortunately time and dislocation took there tole and the fighter that Walter was to beat cancer in round one took him in round 2.
Rest well Walter for I do have fine memories and will play a tune on the pipes here out on a point in Mexico and hoist one last drink of malt to you.

Condolence: If I had been at Walt's service these are some of the memories I would tell. When I met him, he was 23/24 having emigrated to Canada, knowing no english, worked in a candy factory to learn english, then getting a job at Northern British in his trained field. At age 16 he took up telephone, he helped Bell through 3 stages of change.
Walt was an avid outdoorsman, northern Ontario was his place to be. So nice that he loved Star Lake as much as the Young family that he married into.
We remember fondly the Eder trips south to visit us in Perth, the cousins able to get to know each other, the trust we had in each family to care for each others children.
Laughter, stiries, steambaths, campfires, blueberry picking, mushroom picking. All simple things but told the story of this man and his affection for his adopted homeland. We miss these times, we will miss you Walt.
