Condolence From: Rosemary Knechtel ( Gadsby)
Condolence:
My deepest condolences to Elizabeth's family on the loss of a wonderful lady. I knew Elizabeth as an inspirational nursing leader and visionary in Ontario over several decades. When my father was the Administrator of the South Waterloo Memorial Hospital in Galt in the 1960's, Elizabeth was a well respected nursing teacher. She became the Director of the Hamilton and District School of Nursing. I was a nursing student under her leadership at HADSON and all the graduates will remember her belief in the power of nurses to be leaders in health care. We always knew she expected us to be professional and put patients first. She was short in stature but strong in her confidence in us to make a difference in Ontario nursing care as students and graduates. She oversaw the the consolidation of the regional school into the Mohawk College nursing program and was an administrative head for many years.I had the honour and the privilege of teaching nursing students at Mohawk under her leadership. Elizabeth made a difference in my life and in the lives of countless nursing students and graduates. Her dedication and outstanding achievements will be remembered for years to come.

Condolence: My deepest sympathies to all the family. I was a student at the Hamilton and District School of Nursing 1970 -1972. She was strict but fair for us girls who lived far away and wanted to leave early on Friday pm. - skipping her class. She was at our 25th reunion telling old stories right along with girls. We are celebrating our 45th reunion this weekend and will remember her with fondness.

Condolence: As a graduate of HADSON 70 and my sister Linda Lindsay of 69, I offer my condolence to the family. Because of her dedication we had long careers in nursing. I worked in Iqualuit, Hall Beach, Yellowknife, and in the Yukon as well as the native reserves of Northern Ontario. I did not know of Miss Maus' keen interest in world travel and the NORTH but I certainly inherited it. One never knows how your life will touch another's life. May she rest in the everlasting arms of Christ.

Condolence: Miss Maus was a teacher, a mentor and a friend. As part of the HADSON class of '72 we received exemplary training from her and the staff she had there. She cared about each one of us and wanted us to succeed and excell as nurses. She knew each one of us by name and pushed us to be more than we thought we could be, sometimes with us kicking and screaming. I have great respect for her and thank God that she played an active part in making me who I am today. She fulfilled the master plan for her life with dedication and integrity and I know she is rejoicing as life -the next phase begins.

Condolence: As a graduate of HADSON's first class 51 years ago this month I appreciate the guidance that our Director of Nursing, Miss Maus, made to making this innovative training school an ongoing reality. As students we protested and struggled but our instructors persevered and we graduated to work as caring, competent nurses. She would have been proud to know that our class just last Saturday gathered to enjoy lunch together at our annual reunion. My sincere sympathy to the family.

Condolence: I am a graduate of HADSON and the nurse I am today was because of Miss Maus. She held us to high standards and made us accountable for our behaviour. I trembled when called to her office as she was fearsome. This marvellous lady wanted the best for her students. I didn't always appreciate it but I do now. Rest peacefully and joyfully.
