Obituary for Robert Noble "Bob" Hopf

Robert Noble Hopf

Bob Hopf, a man of few words but a big heart, died peacefully on
Friday, November 10, 2017, just 16 days shy of his 90th birthday.

Growing up in the Preston area, Bob met the love of his life and best
friend Thelma (Cochrane) in Ayr where the two married and shared their love of family, friends, travel, camping and garage sales for 66
years.

Known as ‘Hopfy’ to his co-workers and with a life-long career in the
trucking industry, Bob raised three boys – Wayne (Darlene) of
Brighton, Les (Karen) of Glen Morris and Rod (Nancy) of Cambridge, who soon shared his passion for cars, including building a Model A Ford from the ground up. Fishing, woodworking and swimming pool antics became favourite past-times for the whole family.

With countless hours spent in arenas, pool-sides or sporting
fields,“Poppa” loved cheering on his 6 grandchildren (Candy, Sheila,
Karlie, Reba, Andrew and Kate), 10 great-grandchildren and 5
great-great-grandchildren.

And so our Bob, Dad and Poppa exits this world, with a ball cap
perched just so, a cup of Timmie’s in one hand and a Timbit in the
other. Life will never be the same and he will be dearly missed by us
all, including his wonderful extended family the ‘Cochrane Clan’.

The family invites you to a visitation at Kipp’s Funeral Home, 183
Northumberland St. Ayr on Tuesday, November 14 from 2:00-4:00pm or 7:00-9:00pm. A Celebration of Life service will take place on Wednesday, November 15, 11:00am at Calvary Mennonite Church, adjacent to Kipps, with reception to follow.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to the Grand River
Hospital Renal Dialysis Unit through the Kidney Foundation of Canada.
