With her family at her side Bertha Maude MacMillan (nee Schram) passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 4 at Lanark Long Term Care, Kitchener at the age of 92.
Bertha was predeceased in 1982 by her loving husband the late Donald MacMillan. Dear mother of daughter Donna Mitchell, Kitchener, sons Kevin MacMillan of Cambridge, Robert MacMillan (wife Pat) of Princeton, and Douglas MacMillan (wife Barb) of Preston.
Dearly missed by her grandchildren Kellie Einwechter (David), Ryan Mitchell (Sandy), Josh Mitchell, Greg MacMillan (Jessi), Chris MacMillan (Annie) Megan Degier (Dave), Sandi Churchill (Jason), Carrie Heintzman (Mike) Jackie Balkwill (Tony). Will be so greatly missed by her great-grandchildren, Mitchell, Carson and Jorja Einwechter, Hailey and Madden Mitchell, Abigal and Ayden MacMillan, Clara MacMillan, Finn Degrier, Grace and Lauren Churchill, Maddex and Brody Heintzman as well as Chloe and Remmington Balkwill.
Bertha was the daughter of the late Harry and Hilda Schram of Glen Morris, Ontario. Predeceased by brothers William (late wife Rose), Harvey (late wife Tina), Burt (surviving wife Rose), Clarence, Lorne and sister Eileen (surviving husband Charlie Beke). Survived by sisters Gladys MacMillan (late husband Ralph) and Mildred Garnham (John).
Bertha was born January 9, 1926 in Vittoria, Ontario where she lived on the family farm. After she and Don married they moved to North Dumfries Township and she remained there until 2013. She then moved to Heritage Meadows Retirement Home in Cambridge.
She belonged to the Ayr Lawn Bowling Club and was a long standing member of the Laura Rose Women's Institute, Community Club and Euchre club. Bertha was very involved in the North Dumfries community.
Bertha drove school bus for Toshmar Bus Lines for 24 years and retired from there in 1991. She also worked many summers working in the tobacco industry.
She very much loved spending vacations in the Florida Keys and Muskoka with her family. She will be forever loved!!
Friends may call at Calvary Mennonite Church, next to Wm. Kipp Funeral Home, 173 Northumberland St., Ayr on Friday, February 9, 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. visitation, with a service to follow at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow.
