Obituary for Margaret Vander Welle (Verkerke)

Margaret Vander Welle (nee Verkerke) passed peacefully into the arms of the Lord on Tuesday, February 6 at Telfer Place, Paris, Ontario in her 96th year.

Dearly missed by her loving husband of 72 years, Tim Vander Welle.

Dear mother of daughter Jane Uncer (Wayne), sons Abraham Vander Welle (Helen), William Vander Welle (Charmaine) Tim Vander Welle (Lesley). Dearly missed by many grandchildren, great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

Born in Den Bommel, Holland in 1922, Margaret is predeceased by brothers Len, (surviving wife Margaret), Bill (late wife Glennys), Neil, and Rut (late wife Anna), and sisters Tine (late husband Pete) and late sister Corry (surviving husband Derek) and is survived by Nel (late husband Arie)

A long-time resident of Ayr, and a member of Knox United Church (Ayr) for 30 years, Margaret and her husband Tim immigrated to Canada from Holland in 1954 and realized their dream of owning a dairy farm and raising their family. Margaret was a friend to many in her community, often sharing her talents in gardening, crafts and cooking. Proud of her heritage she enjoyed performing traditional Dutch dancing at festivals and events. Margaret loved Canada and the many opportunities it brought her and her family.

Friends are welcome to attend the Visitation at Ayr Chapel, Wm. Kipp Funeral Home 183 Northumberland St Ayr on Friday February 9th from 6 to 9 pm. A celebration of life on Saturday Feb.10th at 11:00 am. At Knox United Church 92 Northumberland St. Ayr. Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Knox United Church (Ayr) or the Alzheimer’s Society of Ontario in memory of Margaret Vander Welle.
