Obituary for Margaret Elizabeth Meggs (McCormick)

MEGGS, Margaret Elizabeth (McCormick)
A long time resident of Paris, Margaret died peacefully, holding her granddaughter’s hand, in her room at The Westwood, Ottawa on Thursday, March 8, 2018 in her 102nd year. Margaret was the beloved wife of the late Joseph F. Meggs (1983). She is survived by her beloved daughter, Sheila Meggs of Ottawa, and her cherished granddaughter, Robyn Oliverio. As well as her husband, she was predeceased by her son, Teddy (1958), her parents, Robert John McCormick and Jane Carlyle McCormick, her brother, Ernest, and her sister, Jean Innes. Margaret was a life member of the Willett Hospital Volunteer Association, as well as a member of the Willett Hospital Board and the Foundation Board. She was an active member of the UCW of St. Paul’s United Church, one of the original workers on Meals and Wheels, and a member of the Paris Horticultural Society. She was known for her prize winning roses. Margaret will be sadly missed by the McCormick and Innes families. Special thanks go to Kim and Billie, who helped care for her so lovingly in the last weeks of her life.
As per her request, cremation has taken place. Her funeral will be held at the Wm Kipp Funeral Home, 184 Grand River St. N., Paris on Saturday, May 12th, 10:30 – 11:30 a.m. visiting and service at 11:30; Interment beside her husband and son in Paris Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family would welcome donations to Meals on Wheels, Paris or the County of Brant Public Library for the purchase of large print books.
