Marlene Carol Exner was born in Leader, Saskatchewan on October 17th, 1946. She was one of three children born to Agnes and Joseph Exner. They lived in Prelate, Saskatchewan till early 1947 when they moved to an apartment at 449 Ontario St. It was here that her sister Sheryl was born. They moved several
times thru out Toronto till they finally settled at 16 Mendip Crescent in Scarborough, Ontario where her brother Mark was eventually born. It was in Toronto that the Exner family came into contact with the truth and by 1955 when Marlene was 9 years old became Jehovah’s Witnesses. At the tender age of 12, Marlene dedicated her life to her God Jehovah and was baptized in the summer of 1958 at the Sunnyside pool on Lakeshore Rd Toronto, Ontario. This was a huge undertaking for Marlene since she was afraid of being in water, yet despite her fears, Marlene’s love for Jehovah was more important to her. Later that same year her family attended the International Assembly of Jehovah’s Witnesses at Yankee Stadium in New York 1958. It was a momentous event that she never forgot. When Marlene was 16 years old she was working at Whitfield Plaza at the Steinburg Grocery store. It was in this Plaza that Marlene met her future husband Daniel Stubbs. Soon after Marlene and Dan were dating and two years later they were married on May 1, 1965 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses on 701 Ellesmere Rd Scarborough, Ontario. Their first year together they lived in a small apartment until they bought their first house at 26 Delbert Drive. In December 1969, Marlene and Dan along with many family members and friends attended the International Assembly of Jehovah’s witnesses in Hawaii. Right after they got back, Marlene found out that she was pregnant with her first child. Derek Daniel Stubbs was born on their 5th wedding anniversary May 1st, 1970. Followed by their daughter Tracy on September 5th, 1974 and their second son Jonathan on September 15th,1975. It was shortly after the birth of their son Jonathan that the family was relocated, when Dan was transferred to the Massey Ferguson plant in
Brantford, Ontario in 1976. They remained in Brantford till 1979 when the family moved out into the country area of Princeton, Ontario and became a part of the Paris congregation. It was at this time that the plant closed and Dan needed to find work, as a couple they started their own business called Black Hat Country Stores; which has continued to this day. In 1983 Marlene and Dan moved their family into the town of Paris to 45 Banfield St, where they have been for the last 35 years. Together they raised their children and they have seen them to grow in the truth and remain in it. They have watched their grandchildren be born, and raised till their teenage years and watched each of them make the truth their own. There was nothing that made Marlene happier then to know that her family was serving her God Jehovah and that she is looking forward to seeing them in the future Paradise on the earth when they will all be reunited. 3 John 4 “No greater Joy do I have than this: that I should hear that my children go on walking in the truth?
Marlene is survived by
Her husband Dan, her father Joseph Exner, her siblings Sheryl Rawlings and Mark Exner and his
wife Louella. Her children Derek Stubbs and his wife Diana, Tracy Voroshuk and her husband
Jason, Jonathan Stubbs and his wife Anna. Her grandchildren Mercedes Stubbs, Kadin Stubbs,
Ethan Stubbs and Alexis Stubbs.
