Peacefully surrounded by her loving and devoted family at Brantford General Hospital on Thursday June 14th 2018 in her 92nd year.
Born December 27th 1926 in Lanškroun, Czechoslovakia Hedy crossed the Atlantic Ocean at the age of 9 months with her parents who settled in the rural farming community of Chesley Ontario.
Upon completion of Teachers College in Toronto Hedy took an opportunity to move to the beautiful Glen Morris area to take a teaching post in the villages’ original one room school house. Hedy continued her teaching career at the Glen Morris Public school for several years before leaving teaching to raise her family.
Hedy was an avid gardener and maintained a garden of splendour with barely a weed. Hedy enjoyed knitting, crossword puzzles, spending time playing games with her grandchildren and being an active member of her community.
Beloved wife to the late Fred (2012) for 63 years; loved mother to David (Pat) of Chatham and Rob (Nancy) of Ayr; cherished grandma to Colin, Kevin (Monika), Chris (Charmaine), Shawn (Cassie), Kaitlyn and Zachary (Taylor) and great grandma to Ava, Cora, Denae, and Daley; dear sister to Martha Faus and Albert (Rose) Lochman. Also survived by nieces and nephews. Predeceased by sister Marg Dyck (Frank) and a brother in law Arthur Faus. Cremation has taken place. Friends may call at the Wm. Kipp Funeral Home, 184 Grand River St. N. Paris on Thursday June 21, 2018 from 2-4 & 7-9PM. A Memorial Service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Friday at 11:00 AM. Family interment Glen Morris Cemetery. Donations to the Parkinson Society, Cancer Society or Glen Morris United Church would be appreciated.
