a great boss....

Tomorrow we say goodbye to another great man from Paris…
Pat Jones touched many lives, and certainly had a big impact on mine; all through High School, Pat was my boss at Calbecks.
Pat taught us how to deal with customers and how to enjoy our work. He occasionally chewed us out (and we most certainly deserved it), and he always had a great relationship with his staff and the customers.
Pat approached life and his work, with a sense of humor….there were many little nicknames, turns of phrase and anecdotes which made that store a lot more than a job.
One family came shopping at the store every week. Pat decided their 8 year old daughter looked like Tammy Wynette…For years, when they came in, he would call her “Wynette” and sing “Stand By Your Man…” whenever he saw her.  Pat put smiles on a lot of faces.
Pat gave to his community, spent years running the Sunday School at St. James Anglican Church, raised two very smart, successful kids and shared a great, long marriage with his wife Cathy.
I had a last visit with Pat in the hospital two weeks ago…we shared some stories from the old Calbeck’s days. When I was leaving, he gave me a firm handshake, and told me he loved me, and I returned the sentiment.
Pat, you will be greatly missed in this Town.
