JEAN KATHLEEN WRIGHT (NÉE BROOKE)
Peacefully, Jean passed away on July 1, 2017 in Brantford, Ontario. Beloved wife of John (predeceased 2016) for nearly 57 years; mother of Maree Loveless (Brian), Christopher, Peter and Derek Wright; grandmother of Kirk, Delia and Shannon Loveless, Evelyne Wright and Michelle Zwierschke (Wright); great-grandmother of Kenley Loveless and Scottie Zwierschke. She will be remembered by her brother-in-law, nieces and nephews overseas. Jean was born in Birmingham, England, and immigrated to Canada from Bristol, England, in 1969 with her husband and four children. She was an avid traveller, enjoyed tennis, the Arts, birdwatching, reading and spending time with her loving family.
Jean received her undergraduate degree in English Literature and teacher’s diploma from the University of Manchester. She was devoted to the well-being of her family, volunteered in her community and enjoyed a quiet social life. Jean was loving, gracious, gentle and kind. She was also hardworking and practical. Her husband relied on her help, her children learned from her example and her friends enjoyed her good company.
After comforting her husband through the difficult, final years of his life, Jean enjoyed frequent visits from her children and grandchildren and was delighted by her great-granddaughters at recent family gatherings. She was also fond of her new neighbours and friends, enjoyed tending to her birdfeeders and flowers and spending quiet time for reflection.
Following a sudden, catastrophic stroke, Jean showed courage and dignity in her final days. A private family funeral mass was held at Sacred Heart Church in Paris, Ontario, on the morning of Friday, July 7, 2017. Jean was laid to rest at Holy Cross Cemetery in Paris. A celebration of her life at a family luncheon followed. Jean will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered.
