Bob McNichol

I have know Walter for well over 50 years now and looking back there were some really fine moments we shared. Our honeymoon to Expo 67 and having more than a few beers in the German Pavilion and laughs for many days. We went fishing one time on a river where he said put your bait right into that spot and bang out came a pickerel ! Steam baths at Star Lake and holidays at our farm house in the heat of an Ontario summer. Lots of good times in the early years. He loved sports if I recall as he showed up as a couch one year in Ottawa with a hockey team and lots laughs and good times again. His job was interesting as well as he introduced Northern bell to the computer age and was an excellent technician if memory serves me well. His ability to find wild mushrooms was a feat in itself with all the secret places he knew of. Betty and I enjoyed watching his family grow into the fine people they are today with such lovely families of their own . Well done Hedi , Steven and Karin with an I. Even with their move to the big city of Perth we visited many times and played a rousing game of golf in the back 40. Unfortunately time and dislocation took there tole and the fighter that Walter was to beat cancer in round one took him in round 2. Rest well Walter for I do have fine memories and will play a tune on the pipes here out on a point in Mexico and hoist one last drink of malt to you.
